Library Thing selected

After gathering research from the AutoCAT and Missouri Library Association ListServs, I presented LibraryThing as an option for cataloging at the July Board Meeting

The main advantages were the low price ($25 for a lifetime membership up to 5000 titles, maybe more with permission) and the use of their servers : we don't have to have our own website to make it work.

So, currently, the collection can be found at the catalog page on LibraryThing ; the description can be found at the profile page. It's not MaRC encoding, but I am providing LCSH as tags and creating or verifying LC and MDS (LibraryThing's Melvil Decimal System is based on public-domain versions of the Dewey Decimal System, thus avoiding restrictions of the more current versions).

In other news, I was named a member of the Library Board.
